Headlines should be yelling about sharks as possible immigrants. Why isn’t Florida’s governor having press conferences about man-eating sharks on its borders? Florida does not share a border with any country, but it does share a border with the Shark Brigade. Be afraid!

Those single-finned demons are out to get you. They will take you life, and then your job. Small business owners will be replaced with long-toothed animals hunting for blood among tourists.

Or perhaps, rather than react, we can pause. We can refuse to buy into an emotional commitment until verification. We can remember every other time some headline raised our blood pressure and remain dubious.
