Conspiracy theories prompt top Finnish health authority to quit Twitter
I decided to walk away from Twitter after its recent policy changes. Not in protest of the policy changes themselves, but because all the hoopla caused me to reflect on what benefits the platforms actually offered.
In its glory days, Twitter democratized information dissemination. It was used to convey organizing messages for populist uprisings, ask for help in rescuing a beached whale and elevate alternative news sources, thereby breaking the gatekeeper role of mainstream media.
