What a weekend. There was a pot luck in the park and an all-day amateur radio event. There were several mass shootings with at least a dozen dead between them. A typical American weekend.
Remember the relief in early COVID when there were no more mass shootings? Me, too. It was a relief. America is feeling better because we are out an about and back to our old problems.
One hundred years ago, the United States had problems with radicals blowing up buildings and people to make a point. It was a group of anarchists that were rounded up in Palmer Raids, which put a stop to the bombings.
Today’s mass shootings are not so easy to target. The killers are not part of an organized group. They are loners who have access to weapons that would straighten King Louis XIV’s hair. These shooters do tell people about their plans for bloodshed on social media, but there are so many people who say similar things it is hard to pick them out in a crowd.
