A rule of thumb - if you need a soundtrack and props to sell an idea, the idea is garbage.
Most of the time, new age beliefs are harmless and clearly work for some people. But other times it sweeps people away into ignoring doctor’s advice, malnutrition and irresponsible spending. There’s a difference in approach between harmless (and even helpful) and destructive new age groups.
What bothers me is the way people flap their hands in the air and talk about things that are simultaneously vague and miraculous. And don’t forget the sing-song voice. It’s not that I don’t have faith in the unseen or in spiritual practices - far from it. It’s all the decoration around the spiritual practices that seem to be designed to distract.
