How To Cope After This Past Weekend
How do you cope after news like this?
What a weekend. You get it. Now what do we do with the feelings?
A large part of our country has been persuaded that guns that shoot several bullets a second must be sold in big box stores for America to be “free”. Somehow, that is also tied to manhood. This toxic brew is leaving dozens of people dead a year, and the people who live in this swamp never question their stance.
Fighting for Change
Coping, for myself, often involves fighting for a new policy or law.
One strategic response would be to fight the idea that freedom requires guns. And if the idea itself didn’t have millions of lobbying dollars behind it and a t.v. network pushing it, that might work.
People have been waiting for the moment when America finally says - enough of this mass violence. When 20 dead 6-year-olds isn’t enough to change minds, it just isn’t going to happen.
