When VP Vance announced that violent J6 offenders would not get a pardon, I clutched at that straw like a life raft.

How wrong I was.

As a longtime DC resident, there’s an ingrained belief in the stabilizing effect of institutions.

Now we know. It is all going to happen, and all we can do is resist.

Many are harping on “resistance” without saying what that looks like. Resistance is not an emotional comfort. It is action.

Like Luigi Mangione walking through a NYC bus station, two cities and most likely several fast food restaurants, without public cooperation, the cops will not catch him. That required public help.

So too, Trump’s agenda will not succeed without general support.

What to do?

Register to vote.

Support and consume independent media.

Join a community of like-minded people who meet in person.

Don’t confuse an online like with actually doing something.

Sharpen critical thinking skills by reading and studying.

Observe what you fell for in the past, and find out why it worked.
