I’ve added “coping strategies” to the list of what this newsletter offers its readers. Learning how to cope, however, can also be a bad thing. Some circumstances require escape, and bad feelings get us to take actions we would rather avoid. But let’s ignore that.

the funniest book ever written

That takes us to my personal list of stuff that makes me feel better.

  1. Hands down, my all-time favorite is the book Letters From a Nut. I honestly laughed out loud when I read it. Before the internet made “sharing” something funny on social media as good as saying it yourself, this guy wrote outlandish letters to customer service departments all over the United States. And the funniest part was they had to pretend to take his concerns seriously. One example was that he needed to dress in a banana suit to have luck gambling at a particular hotel in Vegas. OK, reading that didn’t make me laugh. But you have to see the intricate detail this guy takes in describing his needs for good luck.
