Institutions Strike Back
A small note in The New Republic hides the biggest news of the week.
Official faculty groups at schools such as Rutgers, Michigan State, Ohio State, Indiana University, and the Universites of Maryland, Michigan and Washington have adopted '“a mutual defense pact.” Any attack on academic freedom by the Trump Administration on one of these schools would garner a response from all of them. More than that, they will share lawyers and public affairs offices to strategize together. Should the President announce that research funding to any of these schools is being cut, or if the President wants a list of all foreign students, or RFK, Jr. wants a list of everyone at the school with autism, they will act as one.
Other schools are considering doing the same thing.
