Yes, it can happen to you. You can be duped by a romance scammer. You can be brainwashed by a cult. You can be isolated by a life partner and then misled into believing no one cares about you.

It’s not about being smart. In fact, the smarter you are, the more susceptible you are.

Our strongest weapon against coercive control is realizing that anyone is vulnerable to it. There are no special exceptions for people like us.
