Backdrop to a Murder

Nancy Brophy was convicted of killing her husband Dan by shooting him with a gun they owned. Her husband Dan was loved and respected by his students at the Oregon Culinary Institute where he taught, the restaurants he sold home-made pickles to, and everyone else, it seems. For Nancy, not so much.

Nancy wrote books in the genre of Romance Suspense, which always features love and murder. I can tell you personally that self-publishing can be quite expensive. You really need to invest in book cover art to sell books. Nancy Brophy did. Romance book cover art is the most expensive, but marketing was the real expense. So let’s say she spent a lot of money on her writing career, rather than making it. Nevertheless, it was her full-time job.
