Questions Distinguish Humans

We’ve been talking to apes since the 1940s, in one form or another. Either by trying to get them to talk or using sign language or pictograms, a string of noted attempts to exchange thoughts have been tried.

But the apes have never asked a question.

That got me thinking about what separates humans from animals. It was commonly believed that only humans used tools - shoutout to Dr. Jane Goodall for debunking what I learned in school. The ability to ask a question, or even wanting to ask a question, is what is left to characterized humans vs. ape.

Questioning people, circumstances and yourself is a critical part of the human experience. It allows us to have context, reflect and make choices.
