Some guy in Australia found a tracking beacon in the belly of a shark and decided to run around with it, triggering fake shark warnings. It is a story of technology and people - good and bad.

Shark attacks are a serious threat in some parts of the world. In 1916, there were six shark attacks in New Jersey, but not since.

In Australia, there has been an average of 16.3 shark attacks a year since 1988.

Most of Australia’s population lives near the ocean. Giving people the fear of a shark attack was not the goof it would be in Wildwood, New Jersey.

The 48-year-old man, who has not been named, apparently opted to terrify his neighbors after accidentally reeling in a shark when he was fishing. While he released the shark back into the water, police in Albany say he pocketed the tracking tag that was fitted on the fearsome creature to help authorities monitor the animal and prevent any potential attacks.
