The Chinese Government Has Censored Its Own National Anthem
A look into persuasion and mind control
That’s right!
China's national anthem, "March of the Volunteers," seemingly offered clear instructions to Shanghai residents frustrated with the government's oppressive COVID-containment lockdown: "Rise up, people who don't want to be slaves."
Shanghai residents were using that phrase from the Chinese National anthem as a hashtag on the Chinese social media app Weibo to protest the harsh Chinese Communist Party Covid lockdown.
“Rise up, people who don’t want to be slaves” is a call for regular people to fight a tyrannical government. As part of the Chinese national anthem, it reflects the revolutionary spirit that founded communist China. Clearly, the Chinese government isn’t too excited when its citizens are referring to them while using it.
