There’s a new American Christmas tradition: sit a read a book for most of the day. As in, plop on a comfy chair, chomp on snacks, take only bathroom breaks, and read for seven hours.

It’s a gift we can give ourselves, and people are always giving away books for us to pick up for free. So why not?

We have been conditioned to treat the Christmas holidays as a never-ending to-do list of preparation and activities. I didn’t think of it before, but all of that is really a choice.

So today, choose something else.

Happy holidays! Or not! Whatever!
