Learn Trust in a Computer Game

An online game called “The Evolution of Trust” lets players engage in trust exercises with other players. It is based on the famous Prisoner’s Dilemma. The Prisoner’s Dilemma is a decision-making game where the maximum payoff is when the parties cooperate. However, there is no communication between the parties. The player has to take a chance that the other person will cooperate and not cheat them.

It seems these game theory academics have reduced trust to a mathematical formula.

Now that looks like fun…

The purpose of studying trust is to establish what the elements of trust actually are. What this game revealed was the situation was more determinative of whether trust developed than personal character.
