One of my fave podcasts is The Iron Dice by Dan Arrows. Its creator talks about the historical rise of fascism and the crazy QAnon’ers in Germany now. His latest episode really exposes those people who tried to recreate the monarchy in Germany last year.
Highlights:
Germany has hundreds of people claiming to be the King of Germany.
They all have followers who give them money so they can buy old castles. Like, a lot of money. When someone had the audacity to suggest there be some democratic processes in place after they took over Germany, one “King” locked the doors and tried them for treason on the spot. The thing was, the guy was on the other side of the locked door. I guess he didn’t think that far ahead.
The family that was the actual German royal family is still around, but pretty much ignores the pretenders.
So they have their own national bank, and the loose grouping of followers for these competing kings put signs in their yards declaring that the laws don’t apply to them…
