Reviewing "Kevin Can F*ck Himself"
AMC’s “Kevin Can F*ck Himself” on Netflix is about the best sitcom I’ve ever seen. The entire show switches between a laugh-tracked, brightly-lit stage and darker natural lighting to reflect differing perspectives on the action. It enacts the public/private dichotomy of domestic abuse better than anything I’ve ever seen. To be clear - there is no violence happening to Allison. It is sheer emotional entrapment. She has no money of her own, no activities of her own and no life of her own. Everything she has is meant to be propping up her husband, Kevin. And if it doesn’t, he gets rid of it.
