A simple set of actions that brings someone into the present moment. I just made it up.
How many times does my mind wander around, poking imaginary problems and making witty remarks to people who aren’t there? Too often.
One of my favorite activities used to be hosting chat shows in my living room. The phantom celebrities will have read the same books as myself, never disagree with me, and never want the complete spotlight. It was so convenient.
Convenience. That’s the problem with reality. It is often inconvenient.
If the mind is pulled back to the present moment by wiggling toes and touching a nose, we have to drop at least some of the filter of wishful thinking. With that, we will see people as they are. As in, there are no celebrities in my living room.
Going a step further, what other phantoms are inserted into our daily lives? Let’s wiggle our toes at them, too.
