This AI thing appears to be relatively new. Several years ago I was chatting with one of our colleagues who had been hired as a temp by an insurance company. His job, and the jobs of the other folks in his cube farm, was to read through medical files and find reasons to deny the claims. He quit. Seems that lawyers can't stand such brutality.

Many, many moons ago, like close to 50 years ago, I worked at GW's medical school. While I was there HMOs became a big deal. Not one of the people I knew there was going to sign up because of the restrictions on care that came with those lower prices.

I knew that there were issues with denial of coverage, but it's only been in the last couple of days that I realized the bulk of these denials came from Medicare Advantage plans. I am so sorry about your dad. That is simply awful. I dropped my AARP membership when I realized that it was nothing more than a conduit for UnitedHealth. And I was able to drop my UnitedHealth Medigap policy when I became eligible for CHAMPVA. (The VA feels really bad when it kills off a loved one and throws you money to make up for your loss.)

I am really troubled by the fact that half of the nation's police force seem to be looking for the shooter, but the guy who caused tens of thousands of deaths was rewarded with a $10 million salary. At least the shooter had the courage to do his own dirty work.

Well, the evil truth is that without community cooperation, the police really can't succeed. The guy is still at large. That indicates to me that he has people helping him, or at least looking the other way.
